6 Lab Essentials We Use Every Day (But Will Never Sell You)

At Lowtemp, we build hashmaking equipment from the ground up. But not everything in our lab comes with a Lowtemp logo on it. Some of the most useful tools in our workflow are simple, off-the-shelf items we use daily. They save time, keep the lab clean, and make the process smoother. We don’t make them, and we’re not trying to sell them to you. We just think they belong in every lab.
1. The Shop Vac That Won the Internet
This vacuum took the top spot in the “Vacuum Wars” YouTube review, and for good reason. It’s powerful, reliable, and tough. We use it to clean out the Osprey after each wash, and it makes quick work of any spills or debris on the floor. If you don’t have a dedicated vacuum in the lab, this is a great place to start.
2. Powered Mop and Vacuum Combo
Sticky floors are a bad look in any lab. This mop and vacuum combo scrubs your floors clean with minimal effort. It helps keep the space clean and professional, and it definitely beats mopping by hand. Clean floors also reduce the risk of contamination, which is always a win.
3. Heated Ultrasonic Cleaner
This is one of our favorite tools. An ultrasonic cleaner makes it easy to clean tri clamps, jars, and small tools without scrubbing. Just load the parts with a degreaser and let the machine do the work. It is also great for decarbing or curing rosin in sealed jars using a sous vide-style setup.
4. Stainless Steel Hooks
These are cheap, simple, and seriously useful. We hang bags, collection tools, and other gear over the sink to air dry. It keeps the workspace organized and helps everything dry properly without crowding the counters.
5. Electric Lift Table
If you are running a Mini Osprey in your garage, shed, or home lab, this electric table is a huge upgrade. It lifts and lowers with ease and can handle the weight of a fully loaded Mini Osprey. It makes draining, cleaning, and loading way easier. Plus, it pairs nicely with a Mini Nest if you're using one for water recirculation.
6. FRP Wall Panels
(No link for this one. Check your local Lowes or Home Depot)
FRP stands for fiberglass-reinforced plastic. These wall panels are water-resistant, easy to wipe down, and help protect your lab from long-term wear and tear. We recommend using them behind sinks and in any high-moisture areas. They keep your lab looking clean and holding up over time.
To Wrap It Up
We’re not in the business of selling vacuums or mop systems, but we know what works in a hash lab. These six tools make life easier, keep things clean, and help you focus on making better hash.
