Clear Tech vs Regular Rosin Pressing
In late 2022 early 2023 clear tech rosin pressing was all the rage. It was and still is flooding the FYP and reddit feeds of rosin pressers all over the country and for good reason. The simple added steps of vacuum-sealing your hash, and letting it grease up, gives you glassy, bubble-free fresh press rosin that photographs beautifully.
The question we have is: How does the clear tech method (vacuum bag tek) affect your end product? We can say for certain that this method changes the clarity and appearance of your rosin. We can also deduce with great probability that removing the extra air bubbles can help reduce blowout risk caused by air pockets creating uneven pressure spikes. But what about yields and terpenes?
Some folks speculate that because oxygen is a major driver of rosin degradation, that removing air through vac tech will meaningfully protect cannabinoid and terpene content.

But are they right? Oxidation is bad for rosin. That is not up for debate. The assumption worth testing instead is whether the air bubbles vac tek removes is enough to make a measurable difference in the final product.
The Experiment
We started with a single run of bubble hash and split it into four bags, each weighing exactly 26 grams and double-bagged in 25-micron bags. Two bags got the clear tech treatment. Two were the non-clear-tech controls. The only difference between the groups was the vacuum step.


Everything downstream was locked to the same parameters:

Temperature: 172°F

Time: 3 minutes, including a 30-second preheat
We were also careful about oxidation. The second each sample came off the press, it was pulled, collected, and vacuum-sealed immediately. Both groups had virtually the same short window of air exposure before sealing, so neither one got an unfair head start on oxidizing. From there, both samples went into the fridge to cold cure for 90 days before heading to the lab for testing.
Why not send in fresh press for testing? While fresh press is great, most rosin is sold to the end consumer as badder or cold-cure rosin. 90 days also gave a three-month window for the two batches to show a visible difference in color, signaling a change in oxidation rate.
The Results

Every single number lands within a few tenths of a percent of the other, which is well inside the normal margin of error for lab testing. A potency panel simply cannot tell you that 85.29% is meaningfully different from 85.53%. The terpene profiles track each other almost analyte for analyte too. Myrcene came in at 2.004% versus 2.021%, caryophyllene at 1.396% versus 1.394%, limonene at 1.226% versus 1.238%. These are the same rosin as far as the lab is concerned.
So here's the honest takeaway: clear tech scientifically does not change oxidation, yield, terpene content, or cannabinoid preservation. It will help you flex for the gram, and it may give you a cleaner-looking jar going into the cure. But if you're doing it because you expect better preservation or higher potency, the data from this test says that's not happening.
